Javier Íscar is the Managing Partner of Íscar Arbitraje, a firm specialized in dispute resolution through arbitration. With a solid career as an arbitrator, he has presided over more than 30 arbitrations under the rules of prestigious institutions such as the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce), CIAM-CIAR, the Arbitration Court of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, the Arbitration Court of the Madrid Bar Association, and the PUCP, in addition to participating in ad hoc arbitrations.

His expertise covers a wide range of legal areas, standing out in arbitrations related to Construction, Insurance, EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management) contracts, as well as Banking Products, Financial Law, Commercial Law, Post-M&A (mergers and acquisitions), and Competition. His professional approach is characterized by his ability to manage complex and multidisciplinary disputes, applying a detailed and efficient methodology to each case.

He is also the President of the Open Arbitration, a key event in the field of international arbitration. This event brings together experts, lawyers, and arbitrators to discuss the latest developments in dispute resolution. Professional Activity.

Recognized lawyer practicing since 1993, admitted to the Madrid Bar Association (Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Madrid), and founding partner of ÍSCAR ABOGADOS SLP, a firm where he has built a solid career in law and dispute resolution. His experience has been consolidated over more than three decades, with a strong emphasis on international arbitration.

Since 2006, he has been a member of the Spanish and Ibero-American Arbitration Club, a key institution promoting arbitration culture in the Spanish-speaking world. Additionally, since 2007, he has served as President of the Hispano-Moroccan International Arbitration Court, actively working on resolving international disputes and strengthening legal cooperation between Spain and Morocco.

In the institutional arena, he served as Third Deputy on the Governing Board of the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM) from 2013 to 2017, participating in strategic decision-making for the legal profession. Currently, he holds the position of Vice President of the International Arbitration Center of Madrid (CIAM-CIAR), one of the most prominent institutions in the Ibero-American arbitration field, promoting arbitration as an effective alternative to ordinary jurisdiction in the region.

His commitment to mediation has led him to preside over the Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center (CEMED) since 2013, advocating for this tool as a swift and efficient mechanism for dispute resolution.

Beyond his legal work, he possesses extensive experience in the insurance sector, being an insurance expert and president of an insurance brokerage firm since 2015. In this area, he has developed deep knowledge of sector management and regulation, consolidating his leadership in risk advisory and management.

Academic Qualifications.

Javier Íscar holds a Law Degree from Universidad C.E.U. San Pablo in Madrid (1986–1991) and possesses a strong legal education. He completed an MBA at Know How Business College in Madrid (1989–1991), a Master’s Degree in Legal Practice at the Escuela de Práctica Jurídica in Madrid (1992–1993), and a Master’s Degree at the Centro de Estudios Financieros in Madrid (1994–1995).

Additionally, he completed the Advanced Arbitration Course at the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid in 2006. His training in arbitration enables him to effectively participate as an arbitrator in commercial disputes, applying efficient procedures and ensuring fair and equitable solutions for the parties involved.
